Bangladesh launched a startup platform. Government pledged full support for entrepreneurs.

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman launched a startup platform on Tuesday and pledged government support for young entrepreneurs seeking to build businesses and create jobs.

The National Startup and Entrepreneurship Platform combines government assistance, applications, training, mentorship, investment links and partner resources through one digital portal. The Information and Communication Technology Division and Dhaka University organized the event at the university’s Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban.

“We are with you- to help you, guide you and stand beside you. I do not know how much we will be able to do, but we will do our utmost to support you,” Rahman said.

He also presented grant checks to six entrepreneurs. Government officials said a 500 crore taka startup fund has been established to finance viable enterprises.
