United States ambassador meets Bangladesh army chief in Dhaka

United States Ambassador to Bangladesh Brent T. Christensen met Bangladesh chief of army staff Waqar-uz-Zaman at Army Headquarters in Dhaka on Monday, with the two discussing defense cooperation and bilateral ties.

The meeting was described as a courtesy call, according to a press release cited by The Business Standard. Christensen and Waqar exchanged greetings and discussed existing relations and defense cooperation between Bangladesh and the United States.

Christensen highlighted Bangladesh’s continued contribution to international peace and security, the report said.

He also praised the professionalism, discipline, and efficiency of members of the Bangladesh Special Forces who participated in Exercise Tiger Lightning with the United States Army Pacific (USARPAC).

The meeting came as Bangladesh and the United States continued military cooperation through joint training and other defense engagements.
