Bangladesh prime minister Tarique Rahman to meet Pakistan counterpart in New York

Bangladesh prime minister Tarique Rahman is scheduled to meet Pakistan prime minister Shehbaz Sharif in New York on Thursday on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).

The bilateral meeting is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. to noon at the Secretariat Building at United Nations headquarters, according to the prime minister’s Press Wing.

Rahman is also scheduled to deliver his first UNGA address Thursday at about 5:30 p.m. New York time. He is listed as the 11th of 18 speakers in the afternoon session.

Earlier Thursday, Rahman is scheduled to attend a high-level meeting on sea-level rise and an event on integrating midwifery into primary health care. He is also scheduled to meet United Nations secretary-general António Guterres and Thai prime minister Anutin Charnvirakul.

The General Assembly debate runs from Sept. 22-26 and Sept. 28.
