Bangladesh has identified about 1,498 tourism spots nationwide.

Bangladesh is finalizing a nationwide tourism master plan covering about 1,498 identified tourist spots while drafting the National Tourism Policy 2026, civil aviation and tourism minister M Rashiduzzaman Millat told parliament Sunday.

In a written response to lawmaker Shawkat Ara Akter, Millat said the government is pursuing eco-friendly and sustainable tourism development aimed at attracting domestic and international visitors.

The government is also preparing a Tourism Satellite Account to address data gaps and support planning, while developing destinations through a community-based tourism model that involves local residents.

Millat said authorities are working to increase Tourist Police staffing to improve visitor safety.

The ministries of civil aviation and tourism and cultural affairs also plan to sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on cultural tourism, followed by a standard operating procedure and joint task force.

Bangladesh has also launched the “Beautiful Bangladesh” branding initiative.
