Bangladesh could expand planned Boeing order beyond 25 aircraft. U.S. envoy says new commitment is worth billions.

Bangladesh has committed billions of dollars to purchase additional Boeing aircraft under a new agreement with Washington, significantly expanding an earlier planned order, a senior United States official said.

United States (U.S.) ambassador to India and special envoy for South and Central Asian affairs Sergio Gor said in an X post that U.S. president Donald Trump and Bangladesh prime minister Tarique Rahman had reached what he described as an “incredible Deal.”

“Just this week, President Trump and the Prime Minister of Bangladesh made another incredible Deal, with Bangladesh committing to spend Billions of Dollars to buy more Boeing Aircraft, significantly increasing their initial order,” Gor said.

Gor did not say how many additional aircraft Bangladesh plans to buy, which Boeing models are involved, how much the reported commitment is worth, or whether a formal purchase agreement has been signed.

His comments came about a month after a three-day official visit to Bangladesh from July 30 to Aug. 1, when he met senior government officials and discussed bilateral relations, trade, and economic issues.

Bangladesh had previously increased its planned Boeing purchase from 14 aircraft to 25 in July 2025 during trade negotiations with the Trump administration. Those aircraft were intended for Biman Bangladesh Airlines as part of an effort to modernize and expand the national flag carrier’s fleet.

Gor’s latest statement indicates that planned order could grow again, but neither Bangladesh government nor Boeing has publicly released details of any new commitment.

In his X post, Gor also praised Trump’s economic record.

“President Trump is the Greatest JOBS President in American History. He works tirelessly every day to create millions of high-paying Jobs, drive Trillions of Dollars in Investment, and reinvigorate our Economy,” Gor said.

He added, “Our President is Making America, and our partners, Great Again!”
