Criminal Investigation Department (CID) investigators have sought a seven-day remand of actor Ashraful Haque Don in a murder case involving legendary film star Salman Shah.
CID inspector Mojibur Rahman, investigation officer in the case, filed the request with a Dhaka court Sunday. A metropolitan magistrate scheduled a hearing for Aug. 27 with Don present.
Investigators said questioning Don in custody could help clarify circumstances surrounding Shah’s death, identify other alleged accomplices, and determine why Don allegedly tried to leave Bangladesh despite a travel ban.
Immigration police arrested Don on Aug. 9 at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport before handing him to the CID. He was later sent to jail.
Shah’s maternal uncle filed a murder case in October 2025 against 11 people, including Shah’s wife, Samira Haque.
