A case has been filed against 27 people, including former interim government chief adviser Muhammad Yunus and lawmaker Hasnat Abdullah, over the alleged attack and demolition of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s historic Dhanmondi 32 residence.
Tamanna Chowdhury Priyanka filed the petition Thursday with Dhaka metropolitan magistrate Mohammad Jewel Rana. The court has not yet decided whether to take cognizance of the case.
Lawyer AKM Sharif Uddin said the court recorded the complainant’s statement and would issue an order after reviewing the documents.
The petition alleges a large group attacked the residence Aug. 5, 2025, vandalizing and setting it on fire, and damaging or looting artifacts, documents, books, and valuables. It alleges bulldozers, excavators, and other heavy equipment were later used to demolish the building through Aug. 6.
The complainant also sought arrest warrants against the accused.
