Bangladesh survey shows 66.3% approval for Tarique Rahman amid economic concerns

A nationwide survey found 66.3% of respondents approve of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman’s performance after six months in office, while 54.5% rated the government’s overall performance positively.

Doppler Opinion Research surveyed 3,443 people across all 64 districts from Aug. 6-15. The poll had an estimated margin of error of 2.6 percentage points.

Despite Rahman’s approval rating, respondents expressed strong dissatisfaction over electricity, fuel, and prices. About 59.5% identified electricity and fuel as major national problems, while 59.1% cited high prices of essential goods.

The government received particularly poor marks on electricity management, with 89.4% rating its performance negatively. Another 79.6% disapproved of fuel and gas management, and 69.1% criticized its handling of essential commodity prices.

Nearly half, 46.5%, said their household financial situation had worsened from a year earlier.
