Bangladesh Prime Minister Tarique Rahman said Sunday that maintaining peace and public order is essential for attracting investment, establishing factories and creating jobs.
Rahman said both domestic and foreign investors need confidence that factories can operate without disruption, raw materials can arrive on time and finished goods can move smoothly through ports.
“There must be peace and order in the country,” Rahman said. “Chaos will not work.”
He compared political or public unrest with disruptions faced by small businesses, saying shopkeepers often close during disturbances to protect themselves from damage.
Rahman said similar concerns influence larger investment decisions and warned that employment cannot expand if factories are unable to operate reliably.
“We must remain alert against those who want to destroy peace and order,” he said.
