Prime Minister Tarique Rahman urged Bangladeshis on Sunday to remain alert against attempts to create disorder and spread misleading information, saying peace and stability are essential for investment and employment.
Speaking at a flood rehabilitation program in Banshkhali, Rahman said, “We have to stay conscious and alert. We have to be careful about those who want to destroy peace and stability.”
Rahman said the government plans to place a 10-year energy and power strategy before Parliament aimed at ensuring reliable electricity and gas supplies.
He also said distribution under the government’s Family Card program will begin Aug. 16 following completion of a pilot phase.
Rahman said several hundred factories are expected to be established in the Chattogram region through discussions with Chinese investors, creating jobs and generating foreign currency.
Earlier, he handed over newly built homes and relief assistance to flood-affected families.
