BNP official casts doubt on Hasina speech, claims artificial intelligence may have cloned her voice

Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) official Tariqul Alam Tenzing questioned whether Sheikh Hasina actually delivered a recent speech linked to an event in India, suggesting artificial intelligence (AI) may have been used to clone her voice.

Tenzing said he did not believe Hasina delivered the speech and argued that modern artificial intelligence can imitate voices and generate political content. “I think it is entirely part of an AI process that cloned and mimicked her voice,” he said.

He later repeated that position, saying the Bangladesh Nationalist Party still did not believe the appearance occurred “without AI.”

Another panelist disputed the claim, saying he watched the live event and that Hasina answered at least three questions in real time.

There is no evidence Hasina’s speech was generated using AI. In fact, Deshweek has analyzed the speech and determined it was authentic.

Tenzing is likely engaging in face-saving measures for the ruling BNP because the opposition National Citizen Party (NCP) has slammed prime minister Tarique Rahman for his administration’s failure to stop Hasina from speaking at the New Delhi, India event.
