Saudi Arabia became Bangladesh’s largest source of remittances in fiscal year 2025-26 as total inflows reached an all-time high of $35.5 billion, according to Bangladesh Bank data.
Remittances increased 17.3% from $30.3 billion in fiscal year 2024-25, marking both a record annual total and another shift in the ranking of the country’s leading remittance sources.
Saudi Arabia reclaimed the top position after losing it in fiscal year 2023-24. In fiscal year 2024-25, United States had become Bangladesh’s largest remittance source after overtaking United Arab Emirates.
The latest figures show continued changes among the countries contributing the largest amounts of money sent home by Bangladeshis abroad. The record inflows also represented an increase of $5.2 billion compared with the previous fiscal year.
