Bangladesh arrests two Myanmar citizens with 507,000 Yaba tablets

Rapid Action Battalion officers arrested two Myanmar citizens and seized 507,000 Yaba tablets during an overnight operation near the Naf River border in southeastern Bangladesh, an official said.

The raid occurred about 4:20 a.m. on a muddy road beside Dhaner Chhara canal in Teknaf after officers received intelligence about a drug shipment entering from Myanmar.

The suspects were identified as Karim Ali, 32, and Hasan Araf, 44. Officers recovered two sacks containing tablets valued at 20 crore taka (approximately $1.62 million).

“Sensing the presence of RAB, while they were trying to run away, we managed to detain two individuals,” the Rapid Action Battalion-15 official said.

The unit also seized 400 Yaba tablets from a sand truck in a separate operation. Over 10 days, officers seized about 800,000 Yaba tablets, 76 kilograms of marijuana, seven firearms and 77 rounds of ammunition.
