Dhaka North City Corporation said it removed 18,344 tonnes of waste in the three days after Eid-ul-Azha, including 3,553 tonnes of sacrificial animal waste collected by 6 p.m. Saturday.
Administrator Mohammad Shafiqul Islam Khan said 752 vehicles were deployed under a 72-hour integrated action plan. He said, “Under DNCC’s 72-hour integrated action plan for sacrificial waste management, it has been possible to remove almost all sacrificial animal waste from the northern part of the city with the citizens, journalists and DNCC officials and employees.”
Four of 10 leased cattle markets have been fully cleaned, while work continues at six others, he said.
Khan said a 48-hour special cleanliness drive would begin Sunday after the 72-hour plan. Regular household waste collection will continue.
