Border Guard Bangladesh detained 10 people, including five children, in Chuadanga on Sunday for allegedly entering Bangladesh illegally from India, officials said.
Lieutenant Colonel Nazmul Hasan, director of Border Guard Bangladesh-6 Chuadanga, said the detainees’ identities were being verified and interrogations were ongoing.
Members of the force’s Baradi camp detained the group around 5 a.m. while on border duty inside Bangladesh territory, according to The Business Standard. The detainees included two men, three women and five children.
Nazmul Hasan said the detainees would be handed over to Darshana Police Station after primary legal procedures.
A case will be filed under relevant laws over the alleged illegal border crossing, he said. Border operations are continuing, he added.
