Bangladesh’s interim government led by professor Muhammad Yunus was dissolved through a gazette notification from Cabinet Division, ending Advisory Council that governed during the transition following the ouster of disgraced prime minister Sheikh Hasina.
Notification said president, acting under Clause (3) of article 56 of constitution, appointed Tarique Rahman as prime minister, recognizing him as a member of parliament who commands confidence of majority.
President consented to formation of a new government under his leadership.
“With the formation of the new government, the Advisory Council of the current interim government shall be considered dissolved,” notification said.
