Bangladesh invites Indian leader to new prime minister swearing-in event

Bangladesh has invited Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the swearing-in ceremony of its next prime minister. Dhaka’s outreach follows the new BNP-led government’s electoral triumph and signals a regional diplomatic shift.

Tarique Rahman, the BNP leader elected in elections, is expected to take office this week. The move comes after the outgoing interim administration extended invitations to South Asian leaders ahead of power transfer.

Indian officials hint Modi may not attend in person due to prior commitments but could be represented. The gesture aims to re-establish ties and promote a balanced regional approach under Bangladesh’s new government.
