Crude bombs were allegedly hurled at an election rally of Bangladesh Nationalist Party candidate Ershad Ullah in Chattogram-8 constituency.
The attack occurred during a rally near East Kadhurkhil High School grounds in Boalkhali Upazila on Monday evening.
Five individuals threw improvised explosives before fleeing, with no injuries reported.
Md Azizul Haque, joint convenor of Ershad’s election management committee, blamed the Jamaat-e-Islami, stating a local worker named Erfan led the attack. Jamaat denied involvement, with Chief Election Coordinator Morshedul Islam Chowdhury demanding proof.
Boalkhali Police chief Mahfuzur Rahman confirmed police were informed by the candidate. Earlier, a shooting at another rally of Ershad on Nov 5 resulted in one death and Ershad being injured.
