The Jatiya Party central office in Dhaka’s Bijoynagar was set on fire and vandalized Friday evening during a protest march by Gono Odhikar Parishad.
Police said the incident occurred around 7:15 p.m., shortly after protesters burned tires at Shahbagh intersection and moved toward the office.
Sub-Inspector Sajjad Hossain of Ramna police station said a group of miscreants entered the building, damaged furniture, and set a fire that was quickly extinguished by police.
Eyewitnesses reported seeing multiple waves of attacks beginning around 5:45 p.m. A local shopkeeper said the attackers shouted slogans before fleeing when police arrived.
The area remains tense. A similar attack was reported on August 30 targeting the same office.
