Bangladesh’s apparel exports to the United States surged 21.66% year-on-year in the first seven months of 2025, reaching $4.98 billion, according to trade data. The growth far outpaced the overall U.S. apparel import rise of 4.96%, which totaled $45.80 billion globally.
In quantity, U.S. imports of Bangladeshi garments increased 20.33%, while unit prices climbed 1.11%. By contrast, China’s shipments to the U.S. fell 21.01% in value and nearly 16% in volume, with unit prices down 6.05%.
Observers noted President Donald Trump’s trade practices are working, shifting market share away from rivals like China to friendly nations such as Bangladesh.
Several Asian competitors also recorded double-digit growth, including Vietnam, India, Pakistan, Indonesia and Cambodia, while non-Asian suppliers such as Mexico and Honduras posted mixed results.
Industry leaders credited Bangladesh’s investments in green factories, worker safety and compliance standards for boosting its competitiveness.
