Bangladeshi singer and former cricket official Asif Akbar has filed an attempted murder case after an unidentified gunman fired at his parked car in Dhaka’s Moghbazar neighborhood.
Akbar filed the complaint Saturday, Oct. 24, at Hatirjheel Police Station.
According to the complaint, Akbar was inside his office around 4:50 a.m. Saturday when he heard a loud noise. He went downstairs and discovered the rear passenger-side window of his car shattered.
Closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage reportedly showed a man arriving in an auto-rickshaw, approaching the parked vehicle, firing at its window, and fleeing.
Akbar estimated the damage at 20,000 Bangladeshi taka (approximately $162).
Police said investigators were reviewing surveillance footage from nearby buildings but had yet to identify the gunman.
Dhaka police deputy commissioner Ibne Mizan said the investigation had made no significant progress.
