Bangladesh requires front motorcycle number plates by November 15

Motorcycle owners in Bangladesh must install front number plates by Nov. 15 under a new Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) directive, The Financial Express reported Friday, citing bdnews24.com.

Owners must pay for the plates themselves. The requirement covers scooters and other motorcycles, adding a front display to the registration numbers already shown on rear plates.

Existing rear plates are retro-reflective and carry radio-frequency identification (RFID) tags. The new front plates will be conventional plates without RFID equipment.

Both scooter and other motorcycle front plates must measure 285 millimeters long and 50 millimeters wide, with letters and numerals at least 20 millimeters high.

For scooters, the BRTA specifies stainless steel or aluminum plates with a white background and black Bangla letters and numerals. Decorative designs and embellishments are prohibited.
