Sonali Bank will suspend all banking services in Bangladesh for a scheduled 48-hour database upgrade, The Business Standard reported Wednesday, citing a Bangladesh Bank circular.
The report places the shutdown from midnight at the end of Thursday, Oct. 15, through 11:59 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 17. All banking operations and services will be unavailable during that period.
The work will upgrade the database supporting the bank’s Intellect core banking system (CBS) 10.00 software from Oracle 11g to Oracle 19c. Bangladesh Bank approved the interruption in a circular issued Oct. 14.
Normal operations and other services are expected to resume after the scheduled downtime ends Saturday, provided no technical complications arise. The central bank made its approval conditional on Sonali Bank adequately publicizing the suspension to keep customers informed.
