Bangladesh’s law minister Md Asaduzzaman said Tuesday that an initiative was underway to prevent people older than 35 from entering the legal profession, The Business Standard reported.
Asaduzzaman said he had requested the initiative and that a decision had already been made. The report did not identify an enacted rule or give an effective date, so the announcement does not establish that the restriction is already in force.
He outlined the plan at a Supreme Court Auditorium internship program jointly organized by the Attorney General’s Office and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
The event marked completion of a second group of interns and welcomed a third group. Asaduzzaman said work at the Attorney General’s Office would provide practical learning. Attorney general Ruhul Quddus Kazal and UNDP resident representative Stephen Rodriques also addressed participants.
