Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) said it stopped two alleged attempts by India’s Border Security Force (BSF) to push 10 people across the western border Sunday.
BGB’s 47 Kushtia Battalion said six unidentified people, including two men and four women, were brought toward Bangladesh through the Gangni border in Meherpur. BSF personnel took them back behind India’s barbed-wire fence around 8 a.m., BGB said.
In a separate incident near border pillar 153/9 in Kushtia, BGB said BSF personnel attempted to push four Indian nationals, including two women, through an area adjoining Thotapara border outpost. The group was taken back after Bangladeshi guards intervened, according to BGB.
Lt. Col. Rashed Kamal Roni, commander of the BGB battalion, said patrols had been intensified in the affected border areas.
