Bangladesh condemned a Houthi attack on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh that killed two Bangladeshi nationals and left four others receiving intensive care, officials said Sunday.
Saudi authorities reported 12 people killed and 309 injured in Saturday’s attack. A senior Houthi official claimed responsibility, saying it was retaliation for Saudi strikes in Yemen.
“Such attacks that endanger civilian lives and target civilian infrastructure are unacceptable and must cease immediately,” Bangladesh’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.
State minister for foreign affairs Shama Obaid said officials were working to confirm victims’ identities. Bangladesh’s embassy was coordinating with Saudi authorities to assist those affected.
Bangladesh expressed condolences, urged an immediate cessation of hostilities, and called for dialogue and diplomacy.
Shama said officials would seek to return victims’ bodies home after completing required procedures.
