Prime Minister Tarique Rahman invited Wall Street firms Friday to invest in Bangladesh, saying his government is working to create a more predictable and investor-friendly business environment.
“Our message is simple: Bangladesh is open for business,” Rahman told business leaders and investors at a breakfast meeting hosted by JPMorgan Chase in Manhattan.
Rahman said Bangladesh offers investment opportunities in energy, infrastructure, logistics, technology, digital services, climate finance, manufacturing, agriculture, and healthcare. He said the government aims to build a $1 trillion economy by 2034.
The prime minister said his government is pursuing deregulation, stronger investor protections, improved tax and value-added tax administration, easier profit repatriation, and better infrastructure.
“We welcome Wall Street firms to invest in Bangladesh,” Rahman said, adding that the government wants long-term partnerships rather than short-term transactions.
