A Dhaka court placed Bangladeshi film actor Ashraful Haque, popularly known as Don, on a five-day remand in a murder case over the death of legendary film star Salman Shah.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Jewel Rana issued the order Thursday after the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) sought seven days to question Don, a court official said.
Don was arrested at Dhaka airport on Aug. 9 while preparing to leave for Saudi Arabia. His arrest came nearly three decades after Salman Shah’s death. Don appeared with Salman in at least 13 films.
Salman Shah, whose real name was Chowdhury Muhammad Shahriar Emon, was found dead at his Eskaton Road home on Sept. 6, 1996. He was 25.
Authorities are questioning Don as part of the murder case filed over Salman Shah’s death.
