Bangladesh pharmaceutical exports rise 12% as Sri Lanka remains top market

Bangladesh exported $238.5 million worth of pharmaceutical products in fiscal year 2025-26, up 12% from $213.2 million a year earlier, according to Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) data.

Sri Lanka remained Bangladesh’s largest pharmaceutical export market during the fiscal year. Pharmaceutical products accounted for 40.1% of the $76.4 million in total goods Bangladesh exported to Sri Lanka, according to the data.

Bangladesh shipped pharmaceutical products to more than 130 countries in fiscal 2025-26, reflecting the industry’s broad international reach.

Despite the increase, pharmaceuticals remained a relatively small part of Bangladesh’s overall export economy. Pharmaceutical shipments represented about 0.5% of the country’s $48 billion in merchandise exports during the fiscal year.

The figures show continued growth in pharmaceutical exports, with Sri Lanka maintaining its position as the sector’s leading overseas destination.
