Bangladesh wants more from IT training centers. Jobs and entrepreneurs are priority.

Posts, telecommunications and information technology minister Faqir Mahbub Anam said Saturday that Information Technology (IT) Training and Incubation Centres should focus on jobs, entrepreneurship, innovation, and investment rather than training certificates alone.

“Our goal is not just to provide training, but to create the capacity among young people for employment, freelancing and becoming entrepreneurs through training,” Anam said during a virtual seminar at Software Technology Park in Jashore.

He said training should be demand-based, skill-based, and tied to current and future employment needs. Anam also called for mentoring, technical support, market links, and investor connections for prospective entrepreneurs.

He said stronger cooperation among universities, research institutions, startups, banks, investors, and industry could help build a national innovation ecosystem.

Bangladesh has adopted Information Technology Training and Incubation Centre Operation, Maintenance and Management Guideline-2026 to expand technology-sector skills, employment, startups, and investment.
