Andaleeve Rahman Partho becomes Bangladesh information and broadcasting minister

Bangladesh Jatiya Party chairman and Bhola-1 lawmaker Andaleeve Rahman Partho has been appointed minister of information and broadcasting, marking his first cabinet post.

President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir administered Partho’s oath at Bangabhaban on Friday evening, and Cabinet Division later assigned him the portfolio in a notification issued Friday night.

Partho entered politics in 2000 alongside his father, Naziur Rahman Manzur, and became chairman of Bangladesh Jatiya Party (BJP) after his father’s death in 2008. He was elected to parliament from Bhola-1 in 2008 and again in 2026.

A lawyer by profession, Partho passed the Bar Examination at Lincoln’s Inn before returning to Bangladesh. He trained under barrister Rafiqul Haque for five years and now practices law in Dhaka. He also serves as principal of British School of Law in Dhaka.
