Bangladesh court gives investigators more time in Sharif Osman Hadi murder case

A Dhaka court on Thursday set Sept. 27 for the Criminal Investigation Department to submit a further investigation report in the murder case of Inqilab Mancha spokesperson Sharif Osman Hadi.

Additional chief metropolitan magistrate Jashita Islam issued the order after the agency failed to submit the report Thursday.

The court ordered a further investigation on Jan. 15 after the complainant challenged a Detective Branch charge sheet and sought additional inquiry. The charge sheet, filed Jan. 6, named 17 accused, including alleged shooter Foysal Karim Masud and his parents.

According to the case statement, Masud and Alamgir Hossain opened fire on Hadi while he was riding in a battery-powered auto-rickshaw on Dec. 12, 2025. Hadi died Dec. 18.

The case was initially filed as attempted murder before a court ordered Section 302, covering murder, added after Hadi’s death.
