Bangladesh gas supply is recovering. Factories are still waiting for normal pressure.

Bangladesh’s gas supply has improved from last week’s severe shortage, but factories continue to struggle with low pressure as more fuel is directed to power plants.

Liquefied natural gas supply has risen to about 800 million cubic feet per day, lifting total availability to around 2,420 million against national demand of about 3,800 million. Power plants are receiving about 930 million cubic feet per day, helping cut load shedding below 1,000 megawatts.

Industrial users, however, report pressure far below normal. Meghna Group is operating some factories at about 60% of normal pressure. Some knitwear factories had zero pressure or just 4 to 5 pounds per square inch.

Officials said planned liquefied natural gas cargoes remain uncertain. A tender secured only one August cargo, expected Aug. 23 or 24, limiting prospects for a near-term recovery.
