Crude bomb explodes at Bangladesh court complex, no casualties reported

A crude bomb exploded at a court complex in southern Bangladesh on Wednesday, prompting authorities to tighten security as investigators sought to determine who was responsible.

The explosion occurred around 10:15 a.m. in front of the Judicial Building near the main entrance to the Barishal court premises. No casualties were reported.

Law enforcement officers inspected the scene, while Barishal Metropolitan Police Commissioner Abu Raihan Muhammad Saleh and court judges also visited the area.

Several lawyers alleged that groups seeking to create political unrest were behind the blast, though authorities did not immediately identify any suspects.

Barishal Metropolitan Police deputy commissioner Sushanta Sarkar said a Criminal Investigation Department team had begun investigating.

“Further details can be provided after receiving the investigation report,” Sarkar said.

Security was increased in and around the court complex following the explosion.
