Bangladesh has chance to learn from Estonia’s e-state. Rahman government should take it.

Estonia has offered Bangladesh support in e-governance as both countries seek deeper cooperation in digital technology, trade, investment and skilled migration. The offer emerged from foreign office consultations in Tallinn, where officials discussed digital governance, interoperability, electronic identification and secure data exchange.

Prime minister Tarique Rahman’s government should move quickly to pursue that cooperation. Estonia says 100% of its public services are available online around the clock, giving Bangladesh an opportunity to learn from a country with extensive experience delivering government services digitally.

A serious partnership could focus on technical expertise, secure digital identity, interoperable government databases and better online access to public services. For Bangladeshis, successful implementation could mean less paperwork, fewer office visits and faster interaction with government.

Estonian companies also expressed interest in investing and collaborating with Bangladeshi partners, adding a private-sector dimension to the opportunity.
