Canada deported 3,323 Indians in first half of 2026, with 7,669 more removals pending

Canada deported 3,323 Indian nationals during the first six months of 2026, putting removals on pace to surpass last year’s record, according to data from the Canada Border Services Agency.

The six-month total was nearly 88% of the 3,779 Indians removed in all of 2025. Canada deported more Indians last year than the United States, which removed 3,567.

Indians also surpassed Mexicans as the nationality facing the most removals from Canada during the first half of this year. Another 7,669 Indians were listed in the agency’s removals-in-progress inventory.

The agency did not provide country-specific reasons for the removals. However, an intelligence document cited by Global News said investigations were increasingly identifying Indian nationals on study and work permits as participants in organized criminal activity.

More than 13,040 criminal charges were filed against Indian nationals with Canadian study permits in 2024.
