Bangladesh emerges as key growth market for U.S. soybean exporters

Bangladesh has emerged as a rapidly growing market for U.S. soybeans as American exporters seek to diversify sales beyond traditional destinations, according to the U.S. Soybean Export Council.

The United States supplied 84% of Bangladesh’s soybean imports during the first eight months of the 2025-26 marketing year, up from 48% a year earlier, U.S. Department of Agriculture data show.

Bangladesh is projected to import 2.4 million metric tons of soybeans in 2026-27, driven by expanding poultry, aquaculture and livestock industries and growing domestic crushing capacity.

A 10-member Bangladeshi business delegation is attending the Soy Connext conference in Chicago to meet exporters and visit farms and processing facilities.

Bangladeshi companies also signed a $1.25 billion commitment in November 2025 to purchase U.S. soybeans and soybean meal over 12 months.
