Bangladesh army launches English-medium institute focused on Islamic values

Chief of Army Staff General Waker-Uz-Zaman inaugurated the Army International Islamic Institute in Dhaka on Monday, the military said.

Waker also unveiled foundation stones through video teleconference for seven additional institutes planned in Barishal, Savar, Bogura, Sylhet, Chattogram, Cumilla and Jashore, according to a news release from Inter-Services Public Relations.

The institute, located at the Jalsiri Housing Project, will combine Cambridge curriculum-based English-medium education with religious, moral and value-based learning.

The military said the institution is intended to develop knowledgeable, ethical and competent students who can contribute to Bangladesh and take leadership roles nationally and internationally.

Principal staff officers at Army Headquarters, division commanders, senior military officials, teachers, students, guardians, media representatives and others attended the inauguration ceremony.
