BNP leader Khokon Talukdar blames NCP rhetoric for attacks on its convoy

Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) leader Khokon Talukdar on Friday appeared to justify recent attacks on the National Citizen Party (NCP), telling its leaders they were facing resistance and protests because of their rhetoric.

His remarks followed a week of escalating tensions in which an NCP convoy carrying senior leaders was attacked twice in Sylhet’s Golapganj area Thursday. Vehicles were struck and damaged, according to news reports. NCP leaders accused local BNP and affiliated activists of carrying out the attacks, an allegation that has not been independently established.

“All conscious people of Bangladesh know that you are facing this today simply because of your rhetoric,” Talukdar said. “Stop doing politics with just your words; get to work, show results, and work for the country.”

Rather than condemning the violence, Talukdar framed the resistance confronting the NCP as a consequence of the party’s own political conduct. He later praised BNP leader Tarique Rahman and predicted his development work would earn public support.
