Former Bangladesh president Sahabuddin moves to private Gulshan residence

Mohammed Shahabuddin left Bangabhaban, the official presidential residence, on Sunday, two days after resigning as president of Bangladesh.

Sahabuddin departed at 2:25 p.m. for Green Villa, his private residence in the capital’s Gulshan area, according to a report by bd24live.com. His departure ended his stay at Bangabhaban and formally concluded his presidential duties.

Sahabuddin resigned July 24 after serving for three years and three months of a five-year constitutional term. He took office April 24, 2023, as Bangladesh’s 22nd president.

During his tenure, Sahabuddin carried out constitutional responsibilities and attended state programs.

Following his resignation, authorities issued a gazette notification appointing Jatiya Sangsad Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmed as acting president. Sahabuddin’s departure from Bangabhaban came as the transition to the acting president proceeded.
