Foreign Minister Khalilur Rahman and Maldivian counterpart Iruthisham Adam held a bilateral meeting in Male on July 26, where they discussed a proposed direct shipping link intended to facilitate bilateral trade and improve connectivity between Bangladesh and the Maldives.
The ministers also reviewed ways to expand cooperation in migration and expatriate welfare, tourism, education, health, the blue economy and maritime connectivity.
Rahman reaffirmed Bangladesh’s Bangladesh First foreign policy and underlined the importance of strengthening people-to-people ties between the two friendly countries.
Maldives state minister for foreign affairs Mohamed Fahmy Hassan and Bangladesh high commissioner to the Maldives Md Nazmul Islam attended the meeting.
