Acting president Hafiz Uddin Ahmad paid tribute to the martyrs of the Liberation War at the National Memorial in Savar. He laid a wreath at the memorial at around 11:40 a.m. and observed a moment of silence in memory of the martyrs.
A contingent of the armed forces presented a guard of honour, and he signed the visitors’ book after the ceremony.
The acting president is also scheduled to pay tribute to former president Ziaur Rahman and former prime minister Khaleda Zia at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar in Dhaka and to lay wreaths at their graves at the Zia Mausoleum in Zia Udyan.
Following the tribute programmes, he will go to Bangabhaban to carry out the head of state’s regular official duties.
