Higher Secondary Certificate students blocked major roads across Dhaka, demanding the resignation of education minister Ehsanul Haque Milon and changes to the 2026 examination schedule.
Protests at Science Lab, Uttara, Dhaka University and the Dhaka Education Board caused traffic congestion for more than five hours. Students allowed ambulances and critically ill patients through the blockades.
They demanded cancellation of exam, held during severe flooding and heavy rain, and a retake of the physics exam over alleged errors in the question paper. Students also complained that questions were unusually difficult and that breaks between exams were too short.
Tensions rose at the education board as protesters threw bricks and stones at police, the building and parked buses. Milon told parliament that field-level officials were consulted before exams proceeded.
