Bangladesh’s prime minister and president called for greater military modernization and advanced training as the country confronts increasingly complex threats to national sovereignty, including cyber security.
The leaders made the remarks during the 51st founding anniversary of the President Guard Regiment at Dhaka Cantonment. The government has committed to transforming forces including the President Guard Regiment and Special Security Force into modern, sophisticated, four-dimensional forces equipped with advanced technology and international-standard training.
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman stressed that equipment alone would not guarantee national security.
“I believe that if the armed forces, inspired by patriotism, follow strict discipline and maintain professionalism, then the country’s sovereignty will never face threats again, I believe, Insha’Allah,” Rahman said.
President Mohammed Shahabuddin also emphasized the importance of combining technological advancement with professional and ethical standards.
“Just as modern weapons and technology are essential for a professional force, skills, discipline, loyalty to leadership, morality, and a sense of responsibility are also indispensable. I hope you will remain steadfast in this sense of responsibility,” Shahabuddin said.
The remarks underscored a broader government effort to prepare specialized security forces for both conventional and emerging threats while maintaining discipline, professionalism and institutional responsibility.
