Emphasizing that national progress is inextricably linked to gender equality, Ferdousi Ahmed delivered a powerful message during a recent parliamentary session, declaring, “A country can never develop by neglecting women.”
Ahmed, who represents a reserved women’s seat as a member of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) in the 13th Jatiya Sangsad, highlighted key legislative efforts aimed at increasing female participation in the workforce.
Her address outlined specific provisions within the national budget designed to support women’s empowerment. The new budget introduces comprehensive initiatives to assist vulnerable demographics, including targeted programs for widows and elderly women.
A central pillar of this initiative is the integration of state-supported daycare centers. Ahmed noted that these facilities will allow mothers to work comfortably and attentively, knowing their children are safely secured nearby. These measures are explicitly designed to increase women’s working capacity and productivity by providing them with the peace of mind needed to focus on their careers.
