Bangladesh pulls ahead of India and Pakistan in per capita income

Bangladesh’s per capita income rose to $3,020 in fiscal year 2025-26, putting it above India and Pakistan, according to figures from the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics and International Monetary Fund estimates.

Bangladesh’s figure increased from $2,769 a year earlier. India’s 2025 per capita income was about $2,800, while Pakistan’s was about $1,500, according to International Monetary Fund estimates included in the report.

The Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics said the country’s economy reached $501 billion at current market prices, up from $456 billion in fiscal year 2024-25. Gross domestic product grew 4.14% at constant prices.

Services led Bangladesh’s growth at 4.59%, while agriculture grew 2.78%. Industry slowed to 2.86% from 3.71%. Investment and savings ratios also declined slightly.
