Bangladesh Foreign Minister Khalilur Rahman on Monday praised Pakistan’s diplomatic role in efforts to end an ongoing conflict involving Iran, citing what he described as significant behind-the-scenes work.
Rahman said Pakistan’s deputy prime minister and foreign minister had made “an excellent contribution to bringing this conflict to an end” and expressed cautious optimism about progress.
“I get a sense from my Pakistani colleague that there is a good possibility that things will hold and we should be able to see a conclusion of the conflict,” he said.
He added that the situation remains complex, saying “it’s not an easy conflict,” and noted that Pakistan “has done a heavy lifting on this.”
Rahman also pointed to shared economic pressures, saying energy subsidies are straining budgets and diverting funds from development spending.
