January saw Bangladesh receive a nine-month high of $3.17 billion in remittances, up 45% from the same month last year, according to central bank data.
The inflow marks the strongest January performance since 2021.
Jamuna Bank managing director Mirza Elias Uddin Ahmed attributed the surge to two key factors: preparations for Ramadan and Eid-ul-Fitr, as well as pre-election remittances ahead of the national vote scheduled in February.
