Bangladeshis overwhelmingly approve of chief adviser Muhammad Yunus and the interim government, according to a nationwide poll released by the International Republican Institute’s Center for Insights in Survey Research.
The survey found that 69 percent of respondents said Yunus is doing a good job, while 70 percent expressed approval of the interim government’s performance.
“It is clear Bangladeshis see progress under Dr. Yunus’s leadership,” said Johanna Kao, the organization’s senior director for Asia-Pacific. She said the findings show a strong desire for stability, accountability and reform.
The poll reported high enthusiasm for the coming elections, with most respondents saying they are likely to vote and 80 percent expressing optimism that the polls will be free and fair. The survey interviewed 4,985 adults between September 1 and October 12.
