Khaleda Zia’s family is preparing to take the former prime minister abroad for advanced treatment once her condition improves, according to a Facebook post by Mahdi Amin, adviser to Bangladesh Nationalist Party acting chairman Tarique Rahman.
He wrote that efforts are underway to arrange a special air ambulance with modern medical equipment. Amin said Rahman and his wife have already contacted a London hospital where Khaleda received treatment earlier this year.
Nagorik Oikya president Mahmudur Rahman Manna told reporters after visiting Khaleda at Evercare Hospital that she is not yet stable enough to fly, although doctors expect improvement soon. He said options in Singapore and several European countries are being considered.
Khaleda, 80, was admitted on November 23 with heart and lung infections and is now in the Coronary Care Unit.
